Worship is more than songs and singing even though that may be part of how we worship our God. At its core worship is giving highest value to Him. The word comes from two words ‘worth’ and ‘ship’ – meaning that whatever we value most is actually what we worship.
Jesus said we cannot worship God and money. One of those two will demand our attention. The original word for worship means to ‘kiss toward’ God. This speaks of our opportunity to be intimate with Him and also His desire to be intimate with us. Music and great lyrics help this happen but true worship comes from our own hearts.
